Salto is all about sharing what we love: art, design and the pure joy of making things with our hands. In fact, love, joy, and curiosity are infused into every single thing we make. As major advocates for intentional living, we believe your home and lifestyle should be beautiful and interesting...
Salto began in 2019 by Seattle native and lifelong maker/artist/designer Sidney Ann Field. We know you're wondering so we'll come out with it: the word "salto" means "flip". Sidney chose the name as a little nod to her formative years as a gymnast, when being upside down felt so right. (She even competed for the University of Washington Women's Gymnastics team way back when.)
Leotards have since been replaced by ropes, harnesses and some nice vertical rock faces. Sidney and her fiancé are avid climbers and frequently road trip to sport climbing destinations and camp in their pimped out Sprinter van.
A graphic designer by trade, Sidney's background is in product development for home, tabletop, gift, party ware and personal accessories. When she took that design experience from 2D to 3D and actually got her hands in some clay, everything changed. She gets very excited just thinking about making things and seeing them come to life. Some day she'll play the ukulele.
